It is the 32nd edition of the Summer Olympics, which was hosted by the Japanese capital, Tokyo, from July 23 to August 8, 2021, which was postponed for a whole year due to the Corona pandemic.

This was the second time that Tokyo hosted the Summer Olympics after the first time in 1964 and Tokyo became the first Asian city to host the Olympic Games twice.

And all the activities of the Tokyo Olympics competitions were held without the presence of the fans, in conjunction with the declaration of a state of emergency in Tokyo due to the Corona virus.

More than 11,000 athletes representing 205 countries and the refugee Olympic team participated in this tournament and competed in 33 sports, including 5 new sports, namely climbing, karate, surfing, skateboarding and baseball/softball.

Jordanian team mission

Jordan participated in the 32nd edition of the Summer Olympics, which was held in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, from July 23 to August 8, 2021. This is the eleventh edition in which Jordan participates in the Summer Olympics, which began in the Moscow Olympics in 1980 and continues to this day. Jordan represented 14 male and female athletes in this Olympic cycle, which is the largest number of Jordanian participants in the history of Jordan's participation in the Olympics. This team outperformed the largest Jordanian participation, which was in the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, with 13 male and female players.

It was also the first time that Jordan represented 8 different sports in the Olympic Games, namely, equestrian, boxing, taekwondo, karate, judo, archery, athletics and swimming. The Jordanian participation in the Tokyo Olympics was characterized by the presence of the largest number of qualifiers in the history of Jordanian participation in the Olympics, through 10 athletes who qualified through the qualifiers and qualifying stations, which is double the previous record for the largest number of Jordanian qualifiers, which was in London in 2012.

Support our heroes in the Olympics
The aim of this project was to shed light on the Jordanian team’s participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through the media team located in Tokyo, through continuous follow-up of the Jordanian players’ competitions and matches, and publishing the results, moment by moment, and publishing news, photos and media materials for the Jordanian participation.

With the Arabs in the Olympics
It is a project launched during the Olympic Games to support Arab participation in the Olympics by publishing reports and designs on the Arab champions who achieved medals in the Olympic Games. Where the Jordanian team was in 11 Arab crowns out of 18 during the Tokyo Olympics.

Tourism promotion
It is a project to support tourism in Jordan through the champions and champions of the Jordanian team that participated in the Tokyo Olympics by publishing pictures of the players in the most important tourist areas in Jordan, before their competitions in the Tokyo Olympics.

Google Drive Project
The Media Department has launched a special account on Google Drive that contains all the written and visual media materials and shared with local media on a timely basis during the period of participation as a kind of service for local media and partners to obtain adequate reporting directly from Tokyo.

The Olympic Team Uniform for the Games

A special dress has been introduced for the Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020).

The uniform for the Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020) consists of a jacket, pants, two white and black T-shirts, sports shorts, a sports cap and a uniform travel bag for the participating mission.

An official suit was allocated to appear at the opening ceremony, in addition to the luxurious Jordanian shemagh and the ties bearing the logo of the Jordan Olympic Committee, which were designed specifically for the Olympic mission.

Olympic mission meeting

The meeting of the Olympic mission was organized at the Generations For Peace headquarters, where the hall was organized to receive bags, diaries and all the requirements of the mission, in addition to the lunch party for the players and coaches. A group photo was taken of the players and the entire mission.
